Abstract: The paper discussed classical prescription in terms of definition， codes and standards， history of study on classical prescription and its practical significance， reviewed the current situation of classical prescription in China and predicted its development prospect. It was considered that Jing Fang (classical prescription) was shorten for Jing Dian Fang， whose main property was standardization. The inheritance of classical prescription was the traditional domain of traditional Chinese medicine academic development. Classical prescription has vital social significance and economic value in terms of many aspects， such as talents cultivation， clinical application and market development.
