Abstract:
Gerbera piloselloides, an herb in the family Compositae, is a famous ethnomedicinal plant used by indigenous peoples of southwest China. This paper reviewed the research results of ethnobotany and phytochemistry with 83 compounds isolated from different parts. The compounds include coumarins, terpenoids, flavonoids, glycosides, phenylacetones, sterols and others, which show strong antitussive, expectorant, antiasthmatic, antitumor, uterine analgesia, and exemptling. In recent years, most researchers have been focusing on the chemical components of different parts and their biological activities, and to explore the main active ingredients. However, its active mechanism, biosynthetic pathway and the development of the related products of ethnomedicine need to be further explored. This review summarizes and analyzes the recent research results, which may provide information for further research and development.
