Abstract:
Dampness-Heat Syndrome is one of the most important syndromes in TCM, which plays a critical role in the development of Zang-Fu lesion. Numerous microorganisms in the gut, with the local microenvironment, make up the intestinal microecology system. The intestinal micro-ecosystem has a variety of physiological functions and its dysfunction is believed to be related with many diseases. The theory of intestinal micro-ecosystem is consistent with the TCM concept of holism and homeostasis. This article reviews the intrinsic link between the micro-ecosystem and the syndromatology of TCM, with the emphasis on its relationship with the dampness-heat syndrome.
