Abstract: To find out about the history of preparation of Pollen Typhae in various dynasties,the authors has studied the literature on medicine and herbs from the Han to Qing Dynasties.It is found that the Pollen Typhae was first prepared by baking,as was recorded in Leigong Processing,the main preparation method nowadays is parching,and some scholars have put forward the methods of parching into yellow and deep parching.The findings suggest that Pollen Typhae has been used both as a crude drug and as a parched one since ancient time.
