Abstract:
The experience of Prof. Jin Shi in identifying and treating recurrent rheumatism based on the theory of collateral diseases is presented. The development of palindromic rheumatism is mostly related to congenital deficiency of endowment, improper diet, and deficiency of body after prolonged illness. Its main pathogenesis of rheumatism is the deficiency of qi and blood in the spleen and stomach, the impairment of essence in the liver and kidney, combined with the loss of nourishment in the collaterals, which leads to the invasion of the collaterals by pathogenic wind mingled with other pathogens. Thus, treatment is guided by the theory of collateral diseases. In the acute stage, we propose to dispel the wind and unblock collaterals, and pay attention to clearing heat and draining dampness by applying worm medicine. In the remission period, it is advisable to tonify qi and strengthen the spleen, nourish blood and collaterals, tonify the kidney and liver, and nourish the collaterals with essence.
