Abstract: The theory on the pathogenesis of toxin has been applied and studied in the research and treatment of Sjögren's syndrome(SS). This study summarize the ideas in the theory on the pathogenesis of toxin in Sjögren's syndrome from the points of view in traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine and discuss the relation between the theory of pathogenic toxin in TCM and the pathogenesis of Sjögren's syndrome in modern medicine. This review aim to shed new light on the strategies and methods in treating and studying SS.
