Abstract:
The thought of preventive treatment in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long history, including preventions before disease onset, during the occurrence of disease, and after the recovery of the disease. Wuchang mode adopted the combination of universal TCM prescription, community, and the Internet, which meant that under the circumstance of the pandemic, plenty of universal TCM prescriptions were provided for patients and dwellers through communities with the support from the government. Patients could give their feedback by scanning the code on the packing bag with a specific APP or WeChat. Then specialists modified the diagnosis and treatment scheme according to personal conditions. The universal prescription was pivotal for the strategic achievements of the Wuchang mode. The simultaneous implementation of preventive measures taken before and during disease put the checkpoints of pandemic prevention and control forward, while relapse prevention after recovery could be regarded as the distinctive method of rehabilitation in Wuchang mode. In this sense, Wuchang mode effectively integrated the thought of preventive treatment in TCM with a modern thinking and technique to forge a strong defensive barrier for community epidemic prevention, which was an innovation model to preventive control the novel-major public health emergencies with TCM in China.
