Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of Yiqi Mingmu pill on hemodynamics for patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). METHODS The prospective randomized control study was applied to observe 70 RP patients (140 eyes) admitted in the First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine and Changsha Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who were randomly divided into the control group (35 cases) and the treatment group (35 cases), given vitamin E and Yiqi Mingmu pill oral liquid for three months res. The effect analysis was estimated from electroretinogram (ERG), peak systolic velocity (PSV) of short posterior ciliary arteries, end-diastolic velocity (EDV), resistance index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI). RESULTS After treatment, indexes of both groups have significantly improved(P<0.05). In the comparison of two groups' ab wave amplitude of dark and light adaptation, EDV, RI and PI, the difference is statistically significant (P<0.05). After two months' and three month's treatment, the difference between patients' PSV in both groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Yiqi Mingmu pill can improve RP patients' ab wave amplitude of dark and light adaptation, reduce the ocular blood flow resistance and promote retinal blood flow, which could be the mechanism of Yiqi Mingmu pill treating RP.
