Clinical Observation on Treating Stiff Neck by Acupuncture Based on Meridians and Exercise Therapy

  • OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical effects of acupuncture based on meridians and exercise therapy in treating stiff neck. METHODS 62 patients with stiff neck were randomly divided into treatment group and control group according to the doctor order with dual number, with 31 cases in each group. Patients in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture based on meridians and exercise therapy, while those in the control group were given acupuncture therapy. Scores of VAS and active degrees of cervical vertebrate were used to evaluate effects. RESULTS After treatment, there were statistical significances in both VAS scores(P<0.01) and active degrees of cervical vertebrate(P<0.01) of two groups, with the treatment group being superior to the control group(P<0.05). CONCLUSION Effects of acupuncture based on meridians and exercise therapy on stiff neck are obvious.
