Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate distribution characteristics of TCM syndromes of different immune state with chronic HBV infection. METHODS Immunological classification, TCM syndrome classification, and clinical epidemiology methods were applied to investigate distribution characteristics of TCM syndromes of 200 cases of immune tolerance, 200 immune clearance and 200 immunodeficiency with chronic HBV infection. RESULTS Syndromes of chronic HBV infection in three different immune status groups are liver stagnation and spleen deficiency, yin deficiency of liver and kidney, liver qi stagnation, accumulation of damp-heat, qi deficiency, yin deficiency, liver and stomach, deficiency of liver blood, lung and spleen deficiency, blood stasis, deficiency of spleen and kidney yang. The chi-square test showed P<0.05, suggesting that TCM syndrome distribution of three kinds of immune states was of statistics significance. The state of immune tolerance, immune clearance, and immunodeficiency gave the first place to liver stagnation, internal increase of dampness and heat and yin deficiency of liver and kidney, respectively. CONCLUSION TCM syndromes distribute to different immune states of HBV infection, which could provide theoretical basis for clinical diagnosis and efficacy evaluation of prevention and treatment of chronic HBV infection by the integration of TCM and western medicine.
