Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the relation between serum ischemia modified albumin (IMA) and Blood stasis syndrome of Type 2 diabetes in order to provide referential evidences for standardization of treating diabetes based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation. METHODS 79 subjects with Type 2 diabetes were gathered and divided into Blood stasis syndrome group(34 cases) and non-Blood stasis syndrome group(45 cases) according to the diagnostic theory of traditional Chinese medicine. Serum IMA of each patient was detected, and its relation correspondingly with age, BMI, glucolipid metabolism index (FBG, HbAlc, TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C) and blood pressure (SBP, DBP) were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS Compared with non-Blood stasis syndrome group, IMA, FPG and HbA1c were significantly higher in Blood stasis syndrome group with a stastistic significance. Pearse corelation analysis showed that all the patients' serum IMA was positively correlated with HbA1c (P<0.05). However, partial correlation analysis showed that excluding the influence of age, BMI, blood TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, SBP, DBP, there was no significant correlation between serum IMA and FBG, as well as serum IMA and HbA1c (P>0.05). CONCLUSION The serum IMA level reflects the features of blood stasis syndrome of type 2 diabetes, and may be independent of glucose levels outside the blood stasis syndrome.Serum IMA is another objective marker of Blood stasis syndrome of Type 2 diabetes except glucose levels.
