Effect of Xiaoxiantong Granule on SOD, MDA and ATP of Mice with Pain

  • OBJECTIVE To explore into the mechanism of Xiaoxiantong Granule in the treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome ( FS). METHOD Pain models were made by injecting glacial acetic acid into the abdomen in order to observe the effect of Xiaoxiantong Granule. RESULT Small and medium dosages of Xiaoxiantong Granule could markedly increase the activity of SOD in the serum and brain and decrease MDA content, with great difference as compared with the blank group ( P < 0.05; P < 0.01) . Large dosage could also decrease the activity of SOD in the brain. In all groups, there was an increase in serum ATP content ( P < 0.05; P<0.01). CONCLUSION The mechanism of Xiaoxiantong Granule in the treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome is related to the clearing of free radical in the body.
