Comparative Study of “Sini San” and “Erxian Decoction”on Rats with Chronic Psychological Stress and Mammary Hyperplasia Disease (MHD)

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore effect of Chinese medicine on animal models with mammary hyperplasia disease induced by liver qi stagnation and Chong and Ren pulses disorder in the theory and method of psychosomatic medicine in modern medicine, according to the characteristic of setup of female breast hyperplasia closely related to the theory of pathogenic emotion leading to diseases in TCM. METHODS Combination of chronic stress and mammary hyperplasia was used to make models, during which the behavior changes, animal tissue papilla height after modeling were observed. And serum was detected in radioimmunoassay. RESULTS The modeling method made a big difference on animal behavior. Animal strengh and behavior were improved in each TCM group after treatment and breast tissue hyperplasia was relieved. After treatment with Erxian decoction, Sini powder and the combination, serum indexed were recovered and there were no significant difference among the groups. The ratio in group with the combination was lower E2/P than that in group with seperated medicine. The hyperplasia was relieved in some degree. CONCLUSION Sini powder and Erxian decoction can improve breast hyperplasia in rats. Chronic stress and breast hyperplasia combined with animal models have induced the effect of breast hyperplasia. Sini powder, Erxian decoction and the combination make no significant differences in serum indicators; in terms of adjusting balance between estrogen and progesterone, the combination is better than the seperated.
