Meta-analysis on the Randomized Controlled Trial of TCM Drugs Treating on Children's Upper Respiratory Tract Infection with Fever

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To make a system assessment on TCM drugs treating on children's upper respiratory tract infection with fever, and to analyze the current situation of the clinical studies. METHODS The randomized controlled trial (RCT) of TCM drugs treating children's upper respiratory tract infection with fever published home and broad were searched from 2002 to 2012. According to the data from data base, the literatures' quality were assessed by Jadad standard. Two independent evaluators extract data and assess the quality methodologically. And then the include studies were system assessed by RevMan 4.3 software. RESULTS 112 related literature were retrieved, and 14 of them were qualified including 1989 cases. The Meta analyses shows that the curative effect of TCM drugs treating upper respiratory tract infection with fever are better than western medicines, and the difference was statistically significant OR=3.66, 95%CI is 2.78~4.82, Z=9.22, P<0.01. CONCLUSION TCM drugs's curative effect of treating children's upper respiratory tract infection with fever is better than western medicines, however, because the limited quantity and quality of the included literature, the conclusion is not certain yet, and more high qualitied evidence are needed in the future.
