Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare and analyze the effects of splint support of non-invasive and regulating type with splint of plastic lead wire paper type on local anatomy and wrist joints function. METHODS 40 patients with distal radius fracture received and cured in our department from January to December in 2012 were randomized into two groups: splint support of non-invasive and regulating type group (20 cases) and splint of plastic lead wire paper type group (20 cases). No statistical difference existed in the age, sex and fracture type of two groups. RESULTS After all patients received follow-ups, it was discovered that all fractures were healed without any complication. Based on statistical analysis, there was no difference among the recovery of local anatomy of distal radius, maintaining of palmar tilt and ulna deflection angle in both groups (P>0.05). But splint support of non-invasive and regulating type group had better effects than the splint of plastic lead wire paper type group on the maintaining of radial height and recovery of wrist joints function (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Splint support of non-invasive and regulating type has good effects of healing distal radius fracture, maintaining the anatomy of distal radius, avoiding the shortening and deformity and restoring the wrist joints function.
