Penthorum Chinese has antioxidant, anti-hepatitis virus, protection against alcohol/non-alcoholic liver damage and choleretic effects. Through modern analysis techniques, it has been found that the herb contains a variety of chemical components, including flavonoids, lignin, coumarin, acetophenone, tannins and triterpenes.
