    Abstract
  • OBJECTIVE To explore into the relationship between fat distribution and leptin and insulin in Acupuncture treatment for reducing weight.METHOD Acupuncture treatment(auricular points and body points) was given to 45 patients with obesity.Before and after the treatment,obesity related indexes and serum leptin and insulin level were determined and correlation analysis was carried out.RESULT Acupuncture could markedly improve the various indexes related to obesity. The difference rate of leptin was positively correlated to waist-hip ratio and the difference rates of all the indexes related to obesity(P<0.01).The difference rate of insulin was only positively correlated to the constitution indexes and waistline(P<0.01).CONCLUSION Acupuncture reduces the content of organ fats by improving insulin resistance and reduces the content of body fat,especially the subcutaneous fat,by improving leptin resistance.
