An Exploration into Syndrome Differentiation Based on Zang-fu Organs Described in Treatise on Febrile Diseases
GU Wu-jun
2006, 22(4): 205-207.
Abstract:
The author holds that Treatise on Febrile Diseases is famous chiefly for its syndrome differentiation based on the six meridians, but syndrome differentiation based on zang-fu organs is also covered in the book. Since syndrome differentiation based on the six meridians is made according to the pathological changes of the zang-fu organs and meridians, treatment is given with reference to the pathological changes of the zang-fu organs. Therefore, it is correct to say that syndrome differentiation based on zang-fu organs is also included in Treatise on Febrile Diseases.

Abstract:
There are three indications of Decoction of Fructus Evodiae Rutaecarpae described in Treatise on Febrile Diseases and different doctors have different opinions as to their symptoms and pathogenesis. The authors point out in this paper that our attention should be focused on the pathogenesis rather than symptoms,i.e.deficiency and cold of the liver and stomach, which provides criteria for the clinical application of Decoction of Fructus Evodiae Rutaecarpae.

2006, 22(4): 217-220.
Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate into the regularity of syndrome classification for chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG) using structural equation model(SEM).METHOD Epidemiological method was adopted to collect the information of the CAG patients based on the four diagnostic method and data of the pathological features of the disease based on gastroscope examination.Structural equation models were built by means of multidimensional indexes of disease feature and apriorism.RESULT Among the 22 indexes of syndrome differentiation,4 potential dependent variables were extracted, corresponding respectively to the four common syndromes: damp heat of the spleen and stomach, incoordination between the liver and stomach, deficiency of the spleen and stomach and deficiency of stomach yin, which were respectively correlated to the information of dominant four diagnostic methods. Each of the four dependent variables was affected by a potential independent variable, which reflected the common property of CAG.CONCLUSION There are four most common CAG syndromes correlated to the corresponding syndrome differentiation indexes, with differences in the intensity of their correlation. In this study, the common symptoms are epigastric pain and poor appetite, which conforms to the reality of TCM clinical practice.SEM analysis shows that this method is practical in the explanation of the presence of TCM syndromes of specific diseases and the method of their measurement.
A Clinical Study on Correlation between Classification of Vertigo Syndromes and Wind, Phlegm, Deficiency and Stasis
XU Guo-min
2006, 22(4): 221-224.
Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate into the correlation between vertigo syndromes and wind, phlegm, deficiency and stasis.METHOD Three hundred patients were divided into groups according to the following syndromes: upward going of wind yang, upward going of phlegm turbidity, deficiency of qi and blood, and deficiency of yin in the liver and kidney.Analyses were made on the proportion of each syndrome, the relationship of Chinese syndromes with western medicine diseases, assimilation among wind, phlegm, deficiency and stasis, and relationship between disease location and the zang-fu organs.RESULT The percentages of the proportion of each syndrome were 33.6%,32.6%,16.3% and 17.3% respectively. The main causes of vertigo were found to be 16 diseases such as hypertension and inner ear vertigo. The organs involved were mainly the liver, spleen and kidney. Some of the ancient and empirical recipes like Decoction of Rhizoma Pinelliae Ternatae Praeparata,Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae and Rhizoma Gastrodiae Elatae proved to be effective for vertigo, with a total effective rate of 92.3%.CONCULSION The theory of vertigo resulting from wind, phlegm, deficiency and stasis originates from theory and serve as guidance for practice.

2006, 22(4): 228-230.
Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate into the effect of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae drug serum on blood vessel endotheliocyte secretions ET,SOD and MDA and the its mechanism in the treatment of blood stasis.METHOD LPS and Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae drug serum were made to act on human umbilicus venous endotheliocyte, and the clear supernatant was taken for the determination of the levels of ET,NO,SOD and MDS.RESULT Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae drug serum could relieve the rise of NO and ET caused by LPS and the decrease of SOD and increase of MDA caused also by LPS.CONCLUSION Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae can maintain NO and ET dynamic equilibrium, remove free radicals and maintain the normal physiological functions of the blood vessels, thus effectively prevent blood stasis.

2006, 22(4): 248-249.
Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To establish the technique conditions for extracting resveratrol from amur grape vines.METHOD Studies were conducted on the effect of different extraction methods on the results of extraction, with the extraction rate of resveratrol and the content solid substances in the extract as the indexes.RESULT Though its extradionrateis lower, but SFE method required relatively less solvent and low content of solid substances.CONCLUSION SFE method can be used as the method for extracting resveratrol from amur grape vines, but its optional extration technique londitions are depended on further research.
