ZHAO Guo-ping
2005, 21(2): 75-78.
Abstract:
With the aim of "inheritance, development, systemization and improvement" of Chinese medicine, there exists close relationship among the original second-class specialties in the history and literature of traditional Chinese medicine. The range and complexity of the specialties determines the complexity of the extension of the specialties and the diversity of the structure of personnel knowledge. Emphasis in research should be laid on inheriting traditional Chinese medicine, cultivating versatile personnel in literature information of traditional Chinese medicine, revealing the regularities of traditional Chinese medicine, developing the theories of traditional Chinese medicine and increasing the level of diagnosis and treatment.

SUN Min, SUN Jing, ZHU Quan
2005, 21(2): 103-105.
Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of Picrorhiza rhizome and Hypericum perforatum on in vitro protein non-enzyme glycosylation, evaluate the relationship between the anti-oxidation effect and non-enzyme glycosylation, and analyze the possibility of their use in the treatment of diabetes. METHOD BSA and glucose were used to produce an in vitro system for non-enzyme glycosylation, and the reaction fluid was divided into a control group and groups with different concentration, which were incubated for 60 days. The fluorescent value of each groups were then determined. RESULT The two drugs with different concentrations could markedly and dose-dependently inhibit the formation of AGEs. CONCLUSION The two drugs can inhibit the protein non-enzyme glycosylation, which is probably related to their anti-oxidation function.

2005, 21(2): 106-107.
Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To compare among four different kinds of modified "Simiao Powder" in their effect in inhibiting swelling of rats induced by MSU and acute toxicity.METHOD Rat swelling models were made induced by MSU in order to observe the anti-inflammatory effect of modified "Simiao Powder".RESULT Prescription A turned out to be most effective and rapid in its inhibiting effect, with long durations. The dosage of prescription A was 126 times that of the dosage of MTD and no marked acute toxic effect was found.CONCLUSION Among the four prescriptions, prescription A has the most marked anti-inflammatory effect with low toxic response.
