Abstract: OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical effect of obtaining yin from yang method in the treatment of xerostomia after radiotherapy in patients with nasaopharyngeal carcinoma. METHODS 102 patients with nasaopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy received in outpatient and inpatient department of our hospital from June 2016 to June 2017 were randomly divided into two groups. On the basis of the formula of the control group， guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi) and paojiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Praeparatum) were added in for the treatment group to obtain yin from yang. Three courses later， degree of dry mouth score and irritant saliva flow in both groups were compared before and after the treatment. RESULTS Degree of dry mouth score and irritant saliva flow in both groups were improved compared with those before the treatment (P<0.05，P<0.01)， and the treatment group was better than the control group (P<0.01). The comprehensive effective rate of the treatment group was 88.23%， which was better than that of the control group (66.66%， P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Obtaining yin from yang method has significant effect for xerostomia after radiotherapy in patients with nasaopharyngeal carcinoma. It can obviously improve the degree of dry mouth， and has a certain protecting effect for salivary glands.
